Cambodia Gambling Halls
Wednesday, 14. October 2015
There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.
The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that contains many amenities aside from the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight tables.
