There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that features a number of luxuries on top of the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
