There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gambling is illegal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel complex that features many comforts aside from the casino, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
