Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, in which casino wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling den, features 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that contains a number of comforts in addition to the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
